Jennifer Lopez producing a tow show?

I have nothing against Jennifer Lopez. It just seems odd that she would be involved with a tv towing show in South Beach. I tried researching and couldn't find an answer of why she's involved with that show. Doesn't it seem odd? She's not even from there. She's a NY girl. Lol. Thanks.
