I am gonna try out a dirt track hobby, i wanna know if i could get any benifit from carburating it?

I have about a 91 Chevrolet cavalier and im gonna put a diff 4 cyl in it (old one is blown) and i dont enjoy working with a computerized car so i thought i might try to covert it to a more easier componet, the old fasiond carb. is there a cheap easy way to do this conversion? if im making a mistake let me know and why? i know the binifit of a carburator is theres no limit you can rap it till the crank walks right out, but would i lose or gain HP??? help, tips, spacific (CHEAP) part, ideas...
